Situated on the western end of The Algarve, Luz is less than an hour’s drive from Faro airport and only 10 minutes from the town of Lagos.

The main beach of Praia da Luz and many other smaller beaches in this resort offer an abundance of water sports activities. Book a day out on the open seas for a deep sea fishing trip or a whale & dolphin cruise. Enjoy the activities around the bay with jet skiing, water skiing, diving, paragliding, scuba-diving, snorkeling and of course there are always the paddle boats banana boat and fly fish adventure rides to add a little fun.
Smaller beaches around the coastline offer excellent restaurants, beach bars and cafes that serve excellent food. Some of the most popular ones are Meia Praia, Salema, Burgau and Sagres. There are several good golf courses in the nearby area, tennis courts, horse riding, jeep safaris and many excursions you can take inland to explore what’s on offer in The Algarve.

The Omega Wildlife Conservation Park offers an excellent day out where you can see the animals in their true natural surroundings. Quinta da Paraiso Alto is a horse riding camp and training school offering many scenic treks through the mountains and coastline. Take the Aquabus, a wonderful glass bottom boat trip at the marina and have a great day out with many fun activities and food on board.
Cape St Vincent, also known as "lands end" is the most southwesterly tip of Europe and boasts stunning views over the coastline with its wonderful cliffs, caves and an amazing lighthouse, the 2nd most powerful in Europe. Lagos, one of the main towns on The Algarve is only 10 minutes drive and is on a frequent bus route from Luz. Enjoy excellent shopping, weekend markets, tourist attractions, many traditional and European restaurants and a thriving nightlife

You will have a huge variety of restaurants, cafes and beach bars in Luz, all offering excellent local and European dishes. Being on the coast with local fishermen hauling in their catch daily, seafood is a popular choice. The food is extremely fresh with a lot of grilled meats, salads, fruits, cheese readily available. For those who like to be adventurous on holidays, try some of these local dishes and you wont be disappointed. Espetada, a kebab made from grilled meats and sauces of your choice. Piri-Piri, a spicy sauce served with sardines, chicken or prawns can be hot as filled with chilies with delicious sauces. Leitao Assad, a delicious meal of pork, cooked over a spit is not to be missed. Arroz de Marisco is an excellent rice dish filled with a selection of seafood and Caldeirada, a tasty fish stew served with chunks of homemade breads.
