Cong Village
A stroll through Cong and its hinterland is a microcosmic trip through the history of Ireland and its people. Visit the relics of a monastery built by the High King of Ireland, Turlach O'Connor in 1120 and take a walk along the dry canal. The canal was a relief scheme for the famine of 1845 – 1848, that never fulfilled its promise, as the water just soaked down through the limestone.Cong Wood, situated beside Cong Abbey, has oak, chestnut, redwood and red cedar trees. It is also the home to many wild animals including the pine marten. The area has many underground streams.
Croagh Patrick
Westport ‘s proximity to Irelands Holy Mountain makes it a superb location for those wishing to combine wonderful scenery with the stories and legend of remarkable history.
Westport
Westport boasts a wide variety of tourist attractions. With many outstanding features, most notably the beautiful and unique boulevard known as the Mall. At Christmas time when the Mall is illuminated and the gentle waters ebb along it is a sight to behold and the memory lingers on.
