Avon Ri Lakeshore Resort is named after the Kings River, which along with the River Liffey runs into the valley below forming the Blessington Lakes. The flooding of the valley in 1940 to create a reservoir dramatically changed the local landscape and soon made the area into a great attraction for holiday makers. The sluice gate of the Poulaphouca dam was dropped on March 3rd 1940, and over the next 2 years more than 6,000 acres of land was covered by water creating a lake with a coastline of 35 miles. Today, not only does the lake supply water to thousands of Dublin homes, and act as a habitat for a variety of animal life, it also hosts a wonderful range of outdoor activities including fishing, canoeing and sailing.
Glorious views of the lake and the surrounding mountains and glens; a thrilling list of professionally organised and supervised outdoor activities; and a centre, a restaurant and luxury accommodation - amount to a truly outstanding offering of a five-star hotel standard in an unforgettable location.
To get the most from the magnificent natural surrooundings, guest can choose from an exciting range of outdoor activities, and enjoy unique touches such as escorted to the first tee at Tulfarris by boat across the lake.
Accommodating up to six people, each house contain 3 double bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen, dining room, living room with fire place and a patio.
On arrival there is a EUR100 security deposit required. This is refunded 7 days after departure net of any amounts due for electricity and damages. You are responsible for settling amounts due for electricity prior to departure.
Please note that the pool and leisure facilities will close at 2pm on Christmas Eve, and will re-open at 12 noon on 27 December.
