House Overview

Butlerstown House in beautiful West Cork is the perfect spot for your self catered holiday.

This magnificent Georgian house is set in its own grounds of some ten acres of countryside, and elevated at 500 feet above sea level, it offers uninterrupted views of rolling Irish countryside, with the blue haze of mountains in the distance. Its position off the beaten tourist routes, and just one mile from the Atlantic coastline, offers peace and tranquility.



The House still has many original features in place and in first class order, yet, importantly, great care has been taken to install the necessary modern appliances to make the House comfortable, warm and inviting all year round.

The accomodation comprises of: Ground Floor Hallway, Study), Drawing Room, Dining Room, Communications Centre, Games Room and Kitchen First Floor Five Bedrooms, all with either en-suite or their own private facilities.

The kitchen is complete with every modern appliance, yet at its heart is an ever-lit Aga range cooker, which is deceptively easy and fun to use, and provides useful background heat for the kitchen. The room has a worktop running along its length, with a very large American fridge with icemaker at the far end. Other appliances include dishwasher, food processors, toaster, Kenwood chef, microwave, coffee grinder, etc. However, the most appealing feature of this room is the enormous oval oak table which comfortably seats twelve people! Double doors lead to an enclosed sunny courtyard with a seating area and barbeque.

The high standards continue into each of the 5 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a traditional double bed and 2 large sash windows, while the Tudor bedroom has a magnificent four poster bed. The Principle Bedroom Suite is a lovely bright room on the south western corner of the house where the guest can choose (in advance) either a pair of three foot single divans, or a six foot double. In the Garden Room guest have the choice of either a 6ft double or 2 single beds. (Please inform caretaker in advance). The fifth bedroom, The East Wing Room, has the choice of either a double or twin beds. And all bedrooms are equipped to the highest standard with top quality linen, hairdryers, shaving mirrors, and electric blankets for the cooler evenings.

Whilst being a listed building Butlerstown House is still packed with all modern convieniences such as Satalitte TV, DVD, Video, WiFi, HiFi System and telephone.

Outside there are 10 acres of grounds including woodland, manicured lawn, croquet lawn and walled garden.

The caretakers, Roger & Liz, are resident in the coach house adjacent to Butlerstown House and are on call for any queries guests may have. Guests are also permitted to bring their dogs to Butlerstown House

Extra Charges:

Security Deposit: €500 cash (Cheques & Credit Cards are NOT accepted). Customers will recieve a reciept and the money is refundable 7 working days after departure. Clients are asked to bring their IBAN details with them for the return of the bond if they live outside Irish borders. Irish residents will receive an Irish bank cheque.

ESB: Meter Read - payable on departure

Oil - Heating & Cooking (Aga) - depends on usage

Clients have to pay for utilities on departure. Utilities are electricity, domestic heating oil, peat briquettes for the 3 open fires and one stove in the main kitchen. If clients prefer they can buy their peat briquettes from the local co-op just 1K down the road in Barry Roe. Due to fire risk the property owners do not allow logs or wood to be burnt. Peat burns relatively slowly and does not spark over guards.
