Leisure activities:
Kinvara Village (Chin Mhara - Head of the Sea) is a very picturesque village on the Atlantic Coast.
There are many festivals to be enjoyed in Kinvara itself and the surrounding areas:
Cruninniu na mBád (Gathering of the Boats) is held each August in Kinvara - which brings us back to a time when the traditional Galway Hooker bots were used to transport turf to Kinvara
Fleadh na gCuach each May in Kinvara - "The Festival of the Cuckoo" is a festival of traditional Irish music held in Kinvara each May Bank Holiday
Clarenbridge Oyster Festival (2nd Sunday in September) - is an extravaganza of food, live music and much more
Galway Races (last week July into 1st week in August)
Kinvara is also on the northern tip of the Burren, just 2km from the Burren mountain , 20km from Aillwee Caves in Ballyvaughan and is an ideal base for visiting the Cliffs of Moher, Galway City and Connemara. The village rests on Galway Bay close to the monastic settlement of Kilmacduagh.
Fishing is also very popular in the area, with many good spots for sea fishing in Kinvara and it's environs. Boats can also be chartered locally. Lough Corrib (begining at Galway City and stretching for approx 35 miles) has brown trout, pike, roach and is especially renowned for salmon.
