All Derrynane Holiday Homes are located on landscaped grounds of the Derrynane Hotel. Residents may avail of the hotel’s facilities during season, which makes this a wonderful choice for your self-catering holiday.
The holiday homes include three spacious bedrooms comprising a King size bed in the master bed-room with en-suite bathroom and two twin/king size bedrooms, all finished to an exceptionally high standard. The walnut and granite kitchens are fully equipped with all appliances including oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, all utensils, washing machine/dryer, even your picnic basket.
Each home has its own gardens with garden furniture and for your added enjoyment the hotel facilities are on your doorstep.
During your stay at Derrynane you will be surrounded by magnificent scenery of mountains, ocean, golden beaches and the stunning view overlooking Kenmare Bay. There is so much to do during your holiday with a variety of activities for all ages, hill-walking, hiking, horse-riding, water sports, fishing, golf, tennis or you can relax in our gardens while listening to the calming sounds of the waves. Our friendly staff will endeavour to make your holiday relaxed and memorable.
Leisure Activites:
From May to September holiday home guests can enjoy full use of the Leisure Facilities in the hotel. The new leisure centre (opened 25th May 2010) has: 15m Outdoor Heated Pool, Gym, Sauna, Steam Room, Relaxation Area.
Facilities at the hotel for guests to enjoy also include a bar and restaurant.
Extra Charges:
Electricity is taken by meter reading on arrival and again on departure and is an extra charge.
Leisure activities:
The Landscape: The Ring of Kerry route is located on the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry and is an area of outstanding natural beauty with mountains, bog and woodland interspersed with lakes, rivers, fast running streams and waterfalls.
Derrynane National Historic Park: A short distance from the hotel you will find Derrynane National Park and Derrynane House, the ancestoral family home of Daniel O'Connell, 'The Liberator', a 19th century politician who championed the cause of the Irish in the British Parliament and succeeded in achieving Catholic Emancipation which he believed would be the first step in achieving Home Rule.
Archaeological sites: This Ogham stone near Caherdaniel displays a fine example of ancient Celtic Ogham text, a form of writing comprising combinations of parallel and angled lines carved along an edge of a standing stone.
Skellig Michael: The Skelligs are two rocky islands off the south coast of Kerry. The larger island is Skellig Michael , 12 km from the coast and a number of boats are available to ferry day trippers to and from the island.
Birdwatching on the Skelligs: These Kittiwakes were photographed nesting on Skellig Michael - other residents include Puffins, Shearwaters, Storm Petrels, Fulmars and Guillimots while the Gannets prefer Little Skellig ( the neighbouring island ).The Gannet population here is in fact the second largest nesting colony in the world with an estimated 27, 000 pairs of birds.
