This 3 bedroom cottage is located in a quiet peaceful location away from noise and traffic yet in the village of Carracastle. It is close to Shop/Pub/Church/Bus Stop and is an ideal location for touring the west. Ireland West airport (Knock) is only 6 miles away. The cottage is close to a number of Golf courses, has excellent fishing locations and is close to the famous Moy River. There are great award winning restaurants located close by. There is entertainment nightly in local towns.
The house is all on one level and has a kitchen with all mod cons, the sitting room has a wood burning stove (turf supplied), cable TV, video, DVD, and stereo. The dining and living areas seat 6 comfortably. Each of the 3 double bedrooms have a wash hand basin. One of the double bedrooms has an ensuite shower whilst another has an extra single bed. There is also a main bathroom with bath and separate shower as well as a tackle and bait room for the avid fisherman. Although this house is not Wheelchair approved, it is wheelchair friendly.
The garden is enclosed and has a swings and see-saw, basketball and football area as well as garden furniture. We ask that you do not smoke in the house.
Electricity is payable by 2€ coin machine. The heating is oil, this is meter read and payable locally on departure. Cots, high chairs and an extra bed are available – a local charge may be incurred. Pets are welcome, however they may incur an extra cleaning charge payable locally on departure.
Leisure activities:
The nearest pub and local shop are within walking distance of the house. Ballagharerreen and Charlestown are both 5-6km away and offer a further selection of pubs, shops and restaurants.
Carracastle is only 10 minutes drive to Knock International Airport and within easy reach of Knock Shrine, Castlebar, Ballina, Westport, Roscommon, Boyle, Sligo and Enniscrone on the Atlantic Coast. Galway and Donegal are just one hour away. Carracastle has at least 20 Pre-historic Forts in the area. Stone and Earthen Forts are noted in a book on Carracastle published by local historian Vincent Coleman. On Lough Gara there are Crannogs dotted along the Lough - these are man-made stone islands built over 3, 000 years ago. The Céide Fields of Mayo have exposed 2, 000 acres of stone walled fields built over hills and valleys with a unique interpretative centre.
