Fota Island Cork
Fota Wildlife Park is one of Ireland’s most famous wildlife park. In this rural setting one can view rare and endangered species of wildlife in surroundings which have been developed as close as possible to there natural environments. There is a variety of animals that come from all over the world such as, giraffes, cheetahs, monkeys, elephants and many more. There is more than 70 acres of open countryside to explore where you will come face to face with animals wandering freely.

Beaches in Cork
The advantage of Cork being located near the coast is that there is a wide variety of beautiful beaches to pick and choose from. Going to the beach in Ireland is a popular activity of the Irish people especially if the weather is good. The busiest days are Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holiday Mondays. When the weather is not so good you may easily have the entire beach to yourself.
The three most popular beaches in Cork are: Garrettstown, Garryvoe and Inchydoney.
Garrettstown beach
Garrettstown beach is a large sand a stony blue flag beach. This beach is ideal for surfing. There is a nearby cliff walk which has fantastic views of the sea on a clear day.

Garryvoe beach Garryvoe beach is also a large sand and stony beach. This beach is a very popular beach and it is extremely busy on fine weekends. There is plentiful parking along the beach front. Garryvoe beach is located near the beautiful fishing village of Ballycotton. It is well worth passing through to take in the scenery, and tranquillity of Ballycottton.

Inchdoney beach Inchdoney beach is a beautiful beach located 3 kilometers from the equally beautiful town of Clonakility. Inchdoney is a very large sandy beach Blue flag beach. There are lifeguards on duty during the summer season.

Blarney Village and Blarney Castle

Blarney village known as "the biggest little village in Ireland" is one of Ireland's most picturesque villages. Blarney is set in a beautiful wooded countryside just 12 kilometers from Cork City.

Blarney is steeped in history and magical charm, Blarney offers the visitor a host of wonderful things to do and places to discover. Blarney is a real tourist attraction with its numerous stores of authentic Celtic souvenvenirs, Aran sweaters and official Guinness merchandise.
Two of the major attractions of Blarney are Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone which are definitely worth a trip to see them. Blarney Castle stands on the extensive lands of Blarney Castle Estate which consists of 1, 130 acres which have been planted for forestry purposes and there are 400 acres of avenues and parklands.

The English Market
The English market is an indoor market origins of the market can be traced back to James 1st in 1610 but the present building dates from 1786 which was built in Grande Parade to sell meat, fresh fruit and vegetables. The English Market is still in operation today and is one of the highlights of any visit to Cork. Nowadays the meat, fruit and vegetables stand side by side with gourmet food sellers specialising in all sorts of olives, pates, cheeses, pastas and oriental food. The English Market has entrances on Princes Street, Patrick Street and the Grand Parade.

The market is open from it is always bustling and is well worth strolling through it to take in the atmosphere and the smells as well as admiring the beautiful structure. One of Ireland's top restaurants the Farm Gate restaurant is located on the upstairs with balconies overlooking the nineteenth century fountain by the Princes Street entrance.Located on a first-floor terrace in the English Market, the Farmgate Café serves superb value lunches that often use ingredients sourced from the stalls below. The menu includes traditional Cork delicacies such as tripe and onions with drisheen (a type of black pudding made from sheep's blood), plus Irish lamb stew, seafood chowder, salads and open sandwiches. Best to sit on one of the stools that line the balcony and watch the market activity below.

Micthelstown Caves
The impressive Mitchelstown Caves, one of the most treasured cave complexes in Western Europe, which were discovered in 1833 the Mitchelstown Caves, amongst the finest Limestone caves in Europe, extending over an area about 16 kms long and 5 kms wide, between Cahir and Mitchelstown. A haven of mystery and intrigue, it is a chilling and exciting place for visitors and explorers alike. Up to one 1 km deep, the show cave boasts some spectacular stalagmite and stalactite formations; the Tower of Babel, standing 10 meters high, is a wondrous sight and a timeless tribute to the power and wonder of nature. They are open to the public all year and are a must see when you visit Cork.
