Location

Villa Marianne is conveniently located in the quiet Menorcan resort of Cala Blanca, with local amenities and a sandy beach just a short stroll away. Popular with families, the beaches here are fringed with pine trees, and have soft white sand sloping gently to the clear blue sea where you can enjoy snorkelling and sunbathing. The resort has a selection of bars and restaurants, some of them overlooking the beach, so you can choose one for a leisurely lunch with sea views. The resort has a small water slide suitable for children but for greater excitement, you can visit the Aqua Center water park at Ciutadella or the Water Rock aqua park at nearby Cala en Bosch. A wide range of water sports is available at many of the local beaches and you can also go horse-riding, cycling, play tennis or just take a peaceful walk through the undulating Menorcan countryside. If you are interested in history, the island has a large number of ancient ruins, monoliths and tombs which can be reached on foot or by car. The historical capital of the island, Ciutadella, is only 5km away, and is the second city of Menorca. Considered the religious and cultural capital of the island, despite Mahon now having capital city status, Ciutadella is still an interesting place to visit with a rich and colourful history. The twisting narrow alleyways of the old town, bustling streets and beautiful town square offer traditional shops, museums and a variety of cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes. A market takes place at the main square on Fridays and Saturdays. The Menorcan coastline is very beautiful but the sheltered beach and water within the horseshoe-shaped cove at Cala Galdana, a thirty minute drive to the south, is considered to be one of the most scenic areas of the island. The beach here is a stretch of pure-white sand and is known locally as ‘the queen of the calas.’ The cove sits in the mouth of the Algendar Gorge, surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs which you can explore by boat, visiting secret beaches hidden from tourists approaching by land. The cove’s calm turquoise water is very popular with swimmers, divers and snorkellers. The capital city of Mahon is just under an hour’s drive away. Mahon is built around the world’s second deepest natural harbour and this remains the heart of the city with streams of cargo ships and boats sailing to and from Menorca. The city has a fascinating history, steeped in culture and there is an interesting mix of local tradition and more contemporary activities. For those seeking entertainment, the bars and restaurants bring the harbour to life at night.
