Location

Cala Blanca is a small resort with a selection of shops, bars and restaurants close to the villa which is set in a pleasant residential area. The nearby coast offers excellent beaches in a beautiful setting backed by dense pinewoods. The villa is located a short walk from a local supermarket and restaurant, with the nearest beach just 2km away. Families with children come to the gently sloping beach here for its fine white sand and warm shallow water where snorkelling is a popular activity. Enjoy a quiet lunch in one of the restaurants overlooking the beach or try some of the watersports on offer at the resort. There is a small water slide at the beach suitable for children, whereas larger scale water parks can be found at Ciutadella or Cala en Bosch. Ciutadella, the second city and ancient capital of Menorca, is just 5 kilometres north of Cala Blanca. With its quaint narrow streets and cobbled alleyways, the town is popular with tourists but also has a colourful local market in the fine main square on Fridays and Saturdays and remains the religious and cultural centre of the island. The picturesque harbour is still an important link with Mallorca and is always busy with sea vessels. Ciutadella’s architecture is varied and interesting, reflecting the tastes of past island conquerors. The drive to Cala Galdana on the south coast takes about half an hour, but the stunning cove here is one of the most ecologically important on the island and consists of a deep horseshoe bay backed by high limestone cliffs and edged with pines. Board a boat for a trip around the coast to explore hidden bays and inlets, or take a walk to the beautiful sandy beach and try lunch in the little restaurant nestled amongst the pines at the back of the bay. The island is wonderful for exploring and offers plenty to walkers and cyclists. Prehistoric watchtowers, burial tombs and monoliths can be found all over the island, giving a fascinating insight to Menorca’s ancient history. The capital city of Mahon is about 50km away and is built around the world’s second deepest natural harbour. The port is a busy commercial centre with numerous ships and boats coming and going throughout the day and night. The harbour area really comes to life at night, with live music venues and a good range of restaurants and bars offering entertainment to suit all tastes. During the day, the city has a wide selection of shops, boutiques, historic buildings and museums to visit.
